MDF English Corner (22/01/2022) - 2 Advisory Articles the Qur'an

Assalamualaikum

Welcome to another edition of English Corner, my name is Rifki Kusmana. This time I’ve translated 2 articles in Indonesian to English. Unfortunately, none of the articles had any attribution (again), so I’ll leave that out for his article.

Actuality of Sunnatullah (Together With Difficulties There Are Easy)

We must increase the degree of our faith and piety to Allah every time. Among wasilah or its ingredients is to strengthen awareness of sunnatullah.

This Friday coincides with the 11th of September. The date that the western world, especially America, commemorates as the day of the attack on the twin towers of the WTC, New York. On the one hand, the incident was very cornering Muslims. But behind the negative opinions and unfriendly attitudes accepted by Muslims, there is a great lesson.

Replubika.co.id said that after the events of September 11, 2021, there were 20,000 Muslims in the US and the number of mosques had also increased to 2,500 mosques. Many westerners are curious to learn about Islam after the events that cornered the Muslims. From there, many of them embraced Islam. This is proof of the truth of the sunnatullah in His word;

إِنَّ مَعَ الْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا

The condition is that the Muslims are in their difficult condition, but do not leave Islam. They must istikhamah in carrying out the commands of the Qur’an in the letter Al-Hajj verse 77:

يٰٓاَيُّهَا الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوا ارْكَعُوْا وَاسْجُدُوْا وَاعْبُدُوْا رَبَّكُمْ وَافْعَلُوا الْخَيْرَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُوْنَ ۚ

“O you who believe! Bow down, prostrate, and worship your Lord; and do good, so that you may be successful.” Q.S Al-Hajj: 77.

Maintaining faith, establishing prayer (rukuk and prostration), and being kind to the surrounding environment.

Sunnatullah الْعُسْرِ ا has become a decoration of Islamic da’wah throughout history. At the beginning of the Prophet’s da’wah, all knew the cruelty of the Quraysh. However, along with the hardships of struggling and maintaining the faith, Allah made it easy for the Prophet Muhammad and his companions through the conversion of Quraysh leaders such as Umar, Hamzah, Khalid, Ikrimah bin Abi Jahal, including Abu Sufyan on the day of Mecca’s fathu. Even with his wife Hindun helped win the Yamuk war that liberated Syria.

Another example is the post-crusade where many Europeans converted to Islam. They were captivated by the morals of Solahuddin al-Ayubi. Then after the destruction of Baghdad by the Tatars, not a few Tatar leaders eventually converted to Islam. In the context of Indonesia after the G-30 S PKI in 1965, Islamic umst also increased in quantity and quality.

Therefore, if currently there is a view that corners West Sumatra (Minang) where the majority of its citizens are Muslim, where they are considered as if they lack Pancasila, as well as negative stigma towards good and pious people (good looking) who memorized the Qur’an, then all of that will surely end in goodness for Islam.

The important thing is that the Muslims are istikamah in Islam. Maintaining faith accompanied by vertical and social worship. If this is done, God willing, ease for the sake of convenience will be realized.

Quoting Ibn Abbas in Tafsir Arrazi, الْعُسْرِ ا is a verse that guarantees there will be convenience for the struggle of da’wah.

The verse uses three emphasis (confirmation):

First, taukid inna (actually).

Second, that the word difficulty (لْعُسْرِ) is expressed in the form of makrifat which means localized, while the word ease (يُسْرًا) is in the form of nakirah; not localized, limited but general.

Third, repetition that emphasizes that general ease always accompanies localized difficulty. In addition, the distance between difficulties and Allah’s help must be realized as long as Muslims are steadfast in spreading goodness.

State Policy Always Goes to Al-Quran

Al-Quran is the holy book of Muslims that was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad SAW. We also use the Koran as a guide, as a guide for mankind who adheres to Islam and also as a unifier of the people.

Whoever always or likes to read the Qur’an, Allah will multiply his reward, one letter we read the Qur’an will be multiplied into ten goodness per one letter. Moreover, if we can memorize it, then later those who memorize the Koran can give their parents the crown of glory and will provide intercession or help to seven families on the Day of Judgment.

There is also a phenomenon that occurs to the Ahlul Quran and the Al-Quran memorizers to the point that until now many universities, both public and private, have opened scholarship programs for the Al-Quran memorizers. The blessings of the Qur’an are indeed very great, only in this world, let alone in the hereafter. It can be concluded that being a memorizer of the Al-Quran is very much blessed by Allah SWT. Therefore, let us all flock together to become memorizers of the Qur’an to get the blessings of the world and the hereafter. One page, one day. Hamsah.
